Whilst having a conversation with a friend earlier in the week they made the remark ‘I never have enough money to do what I want to’.
The topic of money is one I can relate to personally in a big way as for many years I had quantified my success on the size of my bank account and material items I owned.
“For whoever has it, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have it, even what he has shall be taken away from him.”
I want you to think about that quote for a minute, think about the ‘it’. I’m quite confident that you generally feel those who have money make or get more, if you don’t think it I’m sure at some point in the past you have thought it.
This quote alone, has been mis-represented for centuries. The majority of people have made their ‘it’ about money. The correct answer for ‘it’ is Gratitude. If practiced correctly it is the shortcut to receiving anything in life that you want.
If you have ever experienced a lack of money in your life the feelings of worry, disappointment, jealousy, doubt, fear, anger, resentment, frustration all come from a lack of gratitude for the money you do have.
The very thought of not having enough money in your life is being ungrateful for what you do have. You have to get your mind focusing on what you do have rather than what you don’t.
Feeling grateful for money when you have very little can be challenging but when you understand that nothing will change until you are grateful then you will be inspired to do it.
I fully understand myself that this may seem ludicrous for some of you reading this right now but just take a few minutes and think hard about your past, back when you were a child when you didn’t have to worry about money yourself.
Did you always have food to eat?
Did you have a roof over your head?
Did you receive an education?
How did you travel to school?
Did you have school books, school lunches and all the things you needed for school?
Did you go on any holidays?
Did you get presents on your birthday?
Did you have a bike, toys or a pet?
Did you have clothes as you grew quickly from one size to another?
Did you go to the cinema, play sports, learn to play a musical instrument or pursue a hobby?
Did you go to the dentist?
Did you have the essentials you need every day like toothbrush, toothpaste, shower gel and shampoo?
Did you travel in a car?
Did you watch TV, make phone calls use lights, electricity, water?
All of these things cost money and you received them despite not having any money yourself. Whilst thinking of your childhood memories you will realise how many things you received came from hard earned money. Be grateful for every single instance and memory because being sincerely grateful for money you received in your past will attract money to your future.
So I want you to try something for the next 7 days.
Let’s face it if sceptical about the above but are not happy with the money you have what have you got to lose?
For the next 7 days every item you use that has been brought into your life via money I want you to simply say thank you to yourself. You will find yourself being grateful for money hundreds of times a day.
